"Silent Night"

everyone who knows me, understands that i love Christmas.

i love the gift-giving, the wrapping of presents, the music blaring from the loud speakers in the mall and restaurants, the bustle of shopping, Santa Claus, the church Christmas program, the "Nutcracker", the "Messiah", the "Tuna Christmas", all the Christmas movies - old and new, baking cookies, the decorating, the food, the tree, writing new music for the season, singing carols, the lights - the list for those things i love about Christmas is unending.

some might wrongly assume that I have never suffered a hardship, or a time of deep sorrow, or a devastating tragedy at Christmas - thus I still love the entire season.

i continue to love Christmas - despite sorrows that have occurred during the season - for one reason.

it is a time when the world is inundated with the story of my Savior.  every time "silent night", "o come, o come, Emmanuel", "joy to the world", "o come all ye faithful", or any of the other carols are sung - the truth of the Gospel is captured and told in a beautiful fashion that everyone can understand.

"silent night, holy night
all is calm, all is bright
round yon virgin, mother and child
holy infant, so tender and mild
sleep in heavenly peace
sleep in heavily peace

silent night, holy night
Son of God - Love's pure Light
radiant beams from Thy Holy Face
with the dawn of Redeeming Grace
Jesus, Lord at thy birth
Jesus, Lord at thy birth"
