pain has it's purpose

"pain insists upon being attended to.  God whispers to us in our pleasures, speaks in our consciences, but shouts in our pain.  it is His megaphone to rouse a deaf world."

inwardly each of us is a tangled mess of emotions and thoughts - - sometimes good, sometimes bad.  "i need to pay bills" - -"what is the dr. going to tell me is wrong?" - - "i'm being evicted today and i don't know where to go" - - "it's my day and i'm going to party" - - "no one understands me" - - and so our thoughts spin on and on.

life is not just about us - - we need to look at our circumstances through spiritual eyes and then seek God on how He wants to use this part of our journey for His glory.  pain has a way of either making us totally self-centered, or taking us out of our self and freeing us to share and administer the only healing there is for the human soul - God's healing.

"think on those things that are true, honest, just, pure, lovely and of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things."
Philippians 4

"mental pain is less dramatic than physical pain, but it is more common and also more hard to bear.  the frequent attempt to conceal mental pain increases the burden.  it is easier to say, my tooth is aching than to say my heart is broken."
